One sentence movie review: "Moolaadé"

Moolaadé (2004)

This is a beautiful, moving, and entertaining story of the clash of tradition and modernity in the form of women in an African village standing up against female genital mutilation.

Clip: "In this clip Collé Ardo, the Burkinabe woman who has granted protection to four young girls who do not wish to go through with the 'purification' ritual in which their genitals would be cut, explains to the council why she is against the practice, and promises to hold firm in her resistance."
